Metcalfe nods only goal to send ‘Boro through

A DAN Metcalfe header was enough to take an improving Goldsborough through to the next round of the League Challenge Cup at the expense of Loftus.

Loftus had the better of the first half with most of the chances going to the home side.

The visitors defended well and got to half-time with the scores level at 0-0.

After regrouping at half-time, Goldsborough came out a lot stronger, creating chances of there own.

It was no surprise when they broke the deadlock when Metcalfe nodded home from a Dean Ward corner.

Loftus piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser, but with some superb defending and a great save by keeper Tobi Fergus, ‘Boro held firm for a well-deserved win.
