RETURNING to Eskvale and Cleveland League action after an absence of two years, Hinderwell were hoping for a good start to the campaign.
As the game kicked off, Brotton dominated early possession but could not turn the dominance of play into goals.
Midway into the half, Hinderwell started to get a foothold in the game with better possession of the ball with Paul Clennan the architect of many moves.
In the final minutes of the first half, Brotton broke clear with Daryl Fletcher claiming his first goal of the season by beating the keeper one on one with a low drive.
Brotton made changes to the team and the formation, which resulted in early action as Hinderwell keeper made hard work of a cross/shot from Michael Duck and allowed the ball to run in the goal.
Hinderwell came back into the game when Gary Marsay scored by lobbing the keeper to make the score 2-1.
This gave Brotton a scare but they held it together and dominated after that, scoring successive goals from Derek Pearson and a well-taken finish from makeshift striker Carl Fletcher.
