Marsay hat-trick sinks Great Ayton

A STUART Marsay treble ruined Great Ayton’s hopes of pulling off the double over Goldsborough.

Tom Mannering put the Cleveland side a goal up after 20 minutes but Goldsborough hit back with three goals in six minutes.

Firstly, the Ayton keeper was caught off his goal-line and Richard Hegerty scored from the centre circle.

Dave Stuart added a second three minutes later and Stuart Marsay’s goal in the 26th minute put the home side well in control at the interval.

Goldsborough continued to press forward in the second half and Marsay collected two more for his hat-trick, shooting into top left corner and then, running from his own half, beat his marker and the keeper to tap the ball into an empty net.

Ayton scored a late consolation when Mannering ghosted past the Goldsborough defence to net again shot under diving keeper Sam Gale.
