Mikey Kilpatrick put in a man-of-the-match performance as he bagged a brace in Fishburn Park’s 5-1 win at home to Redcar Newmarket in the Teesside League.

Park had keeper Kieran Noble to thank for them being level after he was forced to make two smart saves in the opening 10 minutes.

Fishburn took the lead after 20 minutes, star man Kilpatrick capitalising on a goalkeeping error to fire in.

Scores were level at the break though, Alex McGovern conceding a penalty which was duly despatched.

Kilpatrick made it 2-1 after half-time, before goals from Dom Wilson, top-scorer Dan Brown’s 18th league goal of the campaign and centre-back Andrew Menzies’ header rounded things off at 5-1.

Fishburn travel to Nunthorpe in the RT Raine Trophy this weekend.

Staithes Athletic had a weekend off, but are back in action this Saturday when they travel to rock-bottom St Mary’s Yarm.

Lealholm are back on top in the second division of the Beckett League after a 7-0 home win against a spirited Duncombe Park side.

The hosts opened the scoring after 18 minutes when Dan Stonehouse scored with a far-post effort following a superb Josh Hodgson cross which was flicked on by Sam Bailey.

Two minutes later Stonehouse headed his second of the game, before an own goal on 24 minutes made it 3-0.

Stonehouse then completed his hat-trick with a 20-yard effort.

Stonehouse scored his fourth after 55 minutes, before substitute Andy Raw scored after 74 minutes and centre-back James Twaddle scored his first goal for the club with a superb header to wrap things up at 7-0.

Man of the match was midfielder Sam Russell.
