Lealholm stroll through cup clash

Despite anticipating a tight encounter, Lealholm finished up comfortable 4-0 winners over league rivals Boosbeck United, in this North Riding Challenge Cup first round match.

After an even start to the game, Lealholm took control just before the quarter hour mark, scoring two goals in two minutes.

First, man of the match Tom Raw poked the ball home after Neil Harrison had nodded down a corner, before heading in his second after Nathan Gibson headed the ball back into the penalty area.

The match then settled down until a Dave Welham free-kick from 25 yards flew in off the post in the first minute of the second half.

Mike Thompson scored Lealholm’s fourth from close range on 70 minutes, after good work and a perfect cross from Duncan Marson on the right.

Boosbeck United’s indiscipline then got the better of them, losing two players to red cards in the last 15 minutes.
