LEALHOLM booked their place in the semi-finals of the League Challenge Cup as they came from behind to beat Goldsborough United.
The home side started sluggishly and went a goal behind after three minutes with Dean Ward scoring for Goldsborough but Lealholm equalised against the run of play when Mike Thompson was fouled and Ben Crooks fired home the penalty.
This did not help the hosts as they continued to struggle to get their game together and just after the half hour, Goldsborough retook the lead when the keeper spilled the ball and Callum Brown tapped home.
Within five minutes of the restart, Goldsborough scored again when a mix-up on the edge of the penalty area saw Arron Leeman fire home a third for the visitors.
Lealholm hit back more or less straight away when Mike Thompson fired home from 20 yards and this seemed to give the home side a lift.
Ben Crooks equalised just past the hour from 12 yards despite the keeper getting a hand to the ball.
At this point, Darren Harland was introduced as a substitute for Lealholm and his play down the left brought an added boost to the home side who then began to take control. Sam Crooks fired Lealholm into the lead with 20 minutes to go and he completed his treble five minutes later.
With Goldsborough deflated, Lealholm saw the game out to win 5-3 and reach the semi-final.
