Lealholm almost squander four-goal lead

LEALHOLM were straight onto the attack in this fixture and had Brotton on the backfoot for the first half hour.

A two goal blast from Sam Crooks gave the visitors the perfect start.

Brotton could have crumbled, but they showed a good fighting spirit and posed a threat on the counter-attack, however, they failed to make the final pass count once in striking distance of goal.

Just before the interval, Lealholm hit another goal as Jamie Stevenson found the net for 3-0. Lealholm were fast out of the traps again in the second half and within two minutes of the restart, Lealholm striker Dan Porter had added a fourth goal.

With Lealholm taking the foot off the pedal, Brotton eased themselves into the game.

They comeback started when Brotton were awarded a penalty which Scott Templeman fired home.

Having a bit more possession, Brotton continued to press forward and scored after 60 minutes when Carl Fletcher scored a header from a corner.

Brotton continued to take the game to Lealholm but could not turn chances into goals.

With minutes remaining, Daryl Fletcher scored the goal of the game with a volley from the edge of the box.
