GOLDSBOROUGH’S hopes of a point from Boosbeck was rumbled when they were caught on the break while chasing an equaliser on Saturday.
Goldsborough started brightly and created two great opportunities through James Ward and Tom Garbutt.
Boosbeck came back into the game and created some good opportunities of their own – and the visitors had keeper Tobi Fergus to thank for keeping the score 0-0 at half-time.
The home side continued to create chances after the break and were soon in front with a shot from the edge of the area, before doubling their lead with another decent finish.
Goldsborough grabbed a lifeline with half an hour to go when Sam Leadley finished well at the back post from a left wing free-kick.
As the Lythe-based side started to commit more men forward in search of an equaliser – and nearly got one when Dan Metcalf was unlucky with a header at the back post – Boosbeck made it 3-1 on the break to secure victory.
Goldsborough were below par and will expect to do better in the next few games.
