Kev ‘itching’ for return against FC United

ONE person desperate for Whitby Town’s big game against FC United of Manchester to go ahead tomorrow (Sat 4 Feb) is centre-half Kev Burgess, who’s ready for a return after eight weeks on the sidelines.

The former Darlington defender hasn’t played since December through a combination of a three-match suspension and a wrist injury picked up at work.

Burgess, who along-with back-four colleague Ibby Hassan, swept the board at last season’s club awards, said: “I’m over the moon to be back

“I’ve been training really hard for three weeks now, I don’t know whether I’m starting, or just in the squad.

“I’m just itching to be back and out there to do my best, as I always do, to keep Whitby up.”

Physio Kenny Bolton confirmed Burgess was available for the Marine game a fortnight ago, but he’s been busy improving his general fitness since.
