FISHBURN Park Football Club were given a new year boost when it announced new sponsors Amber Gas and Heating of Whitby - and took delivery of a new kit.

The kit is a new venture for the club because for the first time in its history it has changed its colours and style.

Previously, Fishburn Park played in predominantly green with the odd flash of white or black.

However the new kit is predominantly black with green stripes, as can be seen in the photograph.

With two cup quarter-finals to play in January, it is hoped the new kit will bring Park that extra bit of luck that is so often needed in cup matches.

Manager Al Price said: “We are delighted with our new association with Amber Gas and Heating of Whitby, as it was they who approached the club with the offer of a new kit.

“New kits are a very costly item to a grass roots football club such as Fishburn Park so any help from sponsorship or donations are always welcome.

“The new kit is a quality make and should last the club for the next three seasons.

“I must thank the Amber Gas and Heating managing directors Paul Marazzi and Brian Ross for their generous contribution to the club.”

Brian Ross said: “We at Amber Gas and Plumbing are proud to sponsor Fishburn Park, a club with a long and established history.

“We also want to thank Paul Walker for his dedication, unequalled endeavour and enthusiasm that he displays with no material or financial gain to himself.”

Mr Walker thanked Brian for his kind words but was flattered and slightly embarrassed by the comments.

He said: “Fishburn Park is a club run by volunteers, from the committee to the managers and coaches to the parents who help out with the juniors in no small way.

“Since the demise of Whitby Town’s juniors, Fishburn is the only club in Whitby that provides football for juniors at all age groups.

“We are always looking for volunteers and sponsorship so it is very pleasing when local companies, such as Amber Gas and Heating, help out financially.”
