A DETERMINED Goldsborough battled all the way but were unable to prevent Boosbeck United going top of the league.

Goldsborough started brightly and took the lead on five minutess when the ball was passed from midfield to Richter, who ran towards goal evading challenges and his shot found the bottom corner of the goal.

Boosbeck showed their ambition to stay at the top of the league and hit back within minutes. A Goldsborough defensive mix-up allowed Peebles to level the score from eight yards.

Boosbeck were starting to get a hold of the game and took the lead on 25 minutes through Breckon.

Leading up to half-time the game became a more even contest.

Boosbeck increased their lead on 55 minutes with a second goal by Peebles, from close range.

Goldsborough did not give up and pulled a goal back 10 minutes from time when Whitaker ran onto a ball played over the Boosbeck defence and with the keeper off his line, he coolly lobbed the ball into the net.

Goldsborough pressed until the final whistle for an equaliser but the Boosbeck defence held firm as the Cleveland side increased their lead at the top of the table due to Lingdale FC not playing.
