BETTER weather couldn’t have been ordered for the annual Whitby under 11 boys’ football tournament.
Fifteen local primary schools took part in the event held at Eskdale School.
The event was officiated by year nine leadership students from Eskdale School.
In the small schools’ tournament were Lealholm, Fylingdales, Glaisdale, Danby, Sleights, St Hildas, Castleton and Egton.
The winners of the group were Danby with Sleights as runners-up.
In the medium/large schools competition were Ruswarp, Lythe, Airy Hill, Stakesby, East Whitby and West Cliff.
Lythe School triumphed taking first place, followed by Airy Hill who narrowly beat Ruswarp on goal difference.
Each winning and runner-up team will represent Whitby at the Ryedale and Whitby Sports Partnership final also to be held at Eskdale School on Thursday (13 October).
A fantastic afternoon was had by all. Organiser Caroline Watson from Eskdale School thanks everyone who helped to make the event a huge success.
