FISHBURN Park’s under 12s continued their good run with another impressive win, hitting Scholes Park for double figures.
With both teams battling against the strong wind and rain, the game started a little scrappy.
Some good saves by the Marauders keeper combined with some poor shooting by Fishburn kept the score at 0-0 for the first nine minutes.
A surging run by Callum Halley into the box resulted in a penalty when the defender hacked him down. Halley scored from the spot and this lifted Fishburn.
Straight from the restart, Jack Gale’s neat cross and Jamie Entwistle’s flick on to the back post was met by Jack Duckling who tapped in Fishburn’s second.
This was followed by two more similar goals in the next five minutes and led to Duckling’s first hat-trick for the club.
Gale scored his 22nd of the season with a powerful strike from the six-yard box.
Entwistle then got his 1st of the game after running onto a perfect pass from Halley, finishing well by lobbing the keeper from the edge of the box.
The second half was filled with just as much action with six more goals to follow.
Fishburn were again awarded a penalty when Ben Braim was pulled back in the area.
Owen Grant stepped up to take the kick, firing his shot high and forcefully down the middle of the goal.
Grant scored again when his persistence paid off following in on a couple of shots ensuring that the ball made it across the line.
Halley then scored his second goal of the game and 22nd of the season. Entwistle finished the game off with three more goals to take his match total to four.
The scoreline could have been a lot higher as Marauders failed to really get into the Fishburn half, but with the conditions as they were it was a very pleasing result.
Man of the match: Jamie Entwistle.
