Cup final dates announced

ONLY one game survived the hard frost which all but wiped out the Eskvale and Cleveland League programme on Saturday.

Brotton RA must have been delighted their game against Great Ayton survioved the hard frost as they gained a rare home win.

Brotton took the lead on 20 minutes with a well-struck volley from Carl Fletcher and soon added a second when Matthew Scollett headed home from a well flighted corner.

Brotton begun to dominate the game and a great long-range shot from the halfway line by Craig Ormerod left the Ayton keeper frozen to the ground and he was unable to stop the shot.

In the closing stages, Carl Fletcher added a fourth goal to give Brotton a rare home win.

Reviewing the season up to now, Lingdale FC continue to dominate in the league and have a healthy 11-point lead at the top of the table, but still have a few fixtures that could have an influence in the title race, as the top five teams still have to play each other.

In the cup competitions, one team from the league will play in the Scarborough junior cup final to be played at Whitby Town’s Turnbull Ground as Lealholm have drawn Loftus and Lingdale United face a difficult fixture against Kirbymoorside Reserves.

Boosbeck United face two difficult away fixtures in the semi-finals of the major cup competitions, facing arch rivals Lingdale F.C. in the Victoria Hotel league cup and Lingdale United in the UPVC Suppliers knockout cup.

Loftus have two semi finals in the league, facing Lingdale United in the league cup and Great Ayton in the Whitby Benevolent Cup, giving them the possibility of three finas, which could also see Lingdale United in three finals.

Lingdale FC have a semi-final encounter with Hollybush United who will be looking for a shock result for a place in the Benevolent Cup final.

In the Eileen Hodgson Cup, Goldsborough and Brotton are in the semis and await their opponents as Carlin How take on Hinderwell and Hollybush have home advantage against North Skelton.

Cup final dates have been agreed - all will take place at the Turnbull Ground.

These are:

Scarborough Junior Cup, 30 March

Victoria Hotel League Cup, 20 April

UPVC Suppliers Knockout Cup, 27 April
