Clinical Park end Rangers’ winning streak
SOUTH Park Rangers were the visitors to Eskdale this week, boasting a three-match winning streak which included a 10-0 victory from the previous weekend.
But Fishburn Park’s under 11s brought that recent good run of form to an abrupt end with some clinical finishing.
The firm ground and uneven bounce made it difficult to produce flowing football but Park produced six well-worked goals over the course of the game. The first was from Swales who slotted the ball home from a Fergus cross.
SPR replied when a good corner was finished off neatly by the forward.
This only served to spur Park on though and Ward-Hepburn received a pass from the midfield, spun his marker and slid a lovely ball in for Fergus to finish well into the corner.
Ward-Hepburn was then sent clear by Swales and lobbed the keeper for 3-1. And Park went in 4-1 at half-time when Hambley muscled his way past his marker and found Ward-Hepburn in space to finish into the corner for his second of the game.
SPR did put up a decent fight in the first half but Humble in goal was quick off his line to snatch up any through balls.
The second half was Park with a slight wind at their backs and SPR rarely got out of their own half.
But Park, for all their dominance, were finding it difficult to find any kind of rhythm in their passing.
A further two goals were added though, Fergus with his second of the game from close range and then Ward with a left foot volley at full stretch to finish 6-1. A strong, battling performance with a few moments of real quality ensured a comfortable win.
Man of the match: Jack Ward - never missed a tackle.
