JAMIE Clarke is pleased to be back at the Turnbull Ground.
Last season’s top-scorer returned to Whitby Town at the end of August having departed the club in the close season for Northern League giants Darlington 1883.
Clarke told the Whitby Gazette: “I’m glad to be back, I’m over the moon to be honest.
“I enjoyed my time at Darlington and of course it is nice to play in front of a couple of thousand fans on a Saturday, but once I knew that Darren wanted me back here at Whitby it was an easy decision to make.
“It came out of the blue but it didn’t take me long to make up my mind.”
Clarke is confident that some positive results for the Blues are just around the corner.
He added: “Things are a little bit different to how they were at the end of last season because the lads are a bit low on confidence after the run we’ve had.
“But those green shoots of recovery are there.
“In the three games I’ve played since I’ve been back I think we have performed that bit better each time.
“We’ve just got to turn the corner and get that first win.
“You can tell that the results aren’t too far away, its only a matter of time.”
After two appearances from the substitute’s bench Clarke made his first start for Whitby since his return to the Turnbull at Ossett Town on Saturday.
The big striker is convinced that it won’t be long before he is back amongst the goals.
He added: “It was good to get that first full 90 minutes under my belt at Ossett, I felt that I played alright.
“It won’t be long before I am back scoring goals, I can feel them coming , they aren’t too far away.”
