CHRIS HARDY: Marine win was huge for us

Our 4-1 victory at Marine on Saturday was massive for us in more ways than one.

It has been very well-documented that our away form hasn’t been great.

This win quashes any rumours that we can’t play away from home and gets the monkey off our back.

It has been our solid home form that has kept un in the promotion hunt, but if we can pick up some points on the road between now and the end of the season, that’ll act as a huge boost to us.

Saturday’s performance was very pleasing.

We were clinical in front of goal, really controlled the game from start to finish and thoroughly deserved to come away 4-1 winners.

In particular, the performance of David Carson really impressed me.

The lad has got real quality and he’s starting to find pockets of space further forward as he gets used to playing with the lads.

Another player who impressed me on Saturday was Matty Tymon.

He’s a big player for us and he had a hard time in front of goal in our win against Skelmersdale.

Matty was excellent on Saturday. He’s a clever player and sometimes it doesn’t look like he’s giving 100%, but he’s a hugely important for this side as he brings others into play in attacking areas.

We welcome Barwell to the Turnbull on Saturday for what is another important game for us.

They’re coming thick and fast now and we face a busy schedule as we approach the business end of the season.

Carson has a knock, but I think he’ll be ok for Saturday, and Callum Martin is nursing a groin injury that we’ll need to keep an eye on.

Hopefully Dale Hopson will make a full recovery from his bug as he’s a key player for us.
