Caedmon U14 11
Easingwold U14 4
Caedmon School’s under 14 girls’ football team are the cream of North Yorkshire after beating Easingwold in the county cup final.
The Caedmon girls were focused and determined to win from the outset with captain Morgann Russell bossing the midfield.
Alice Hogarth showed her pace, skipping past the full back and slotting the ball home and her talent continued to show as she went on to score another three, taking her tally to nine for the competition.
With the score 6-0 at half-time the girls continued their professional display with Daisy Drake being given the freedom to drive on from midfield to score from 20 yards.
Concentration slipped and with two soft penalties, Easingwold looked to be staging a fightback early in the second half, but the strong defence of Jess Chapman, Kelly Probert, Hannah Cook and Tia Roe Dryden put a stop to that.
Rhian Cattermole worked hard to get herself two goals with a little dink round the keeper and Tilly Swales finished off the scoring by nipping in front of the defender to slot the ball home.
PE teacher Jo Raw said: “I am delighted with the girls’ commitment and standard of football they played not only in the final but throughout the competition.
“I am so proud of the girls and have loved every minute of the competition with them.”
