Breaking news - Beth called back into England squad
Beth Mead
HINDERWELL footballer Beth Mead has been named in a 30-woman squad to attend an England under 17 training camp.
The five-day camp will take place from Monday 13 to Friday 17 February in Warwick.
The call-up is reward for striker Beth (16) who has been in blistering form for Sunderland ladies as they chase the FA Women’s Premier League crown.
Her manager at Sunderland, Mick Mulhern, said: “I’m very pleased for Beth - and her colleague Rebecca Olley.
“Both have worked very hard in their first season at Sunderland and I have no doubt they will enjoy the week away.
“The experience will aid their development further.”
Beth, an A-level sport and science student at Whitby Community College, previously scored twice for England under 17s in a European Championships match against Armenia - a feat she describes as her favourite moment.
She was called up into the England squad earlier this season but was forced to withdraw with an injury.
