GOLDSBOROUGH were looking for their third consecutive win when they hosted a well-organised Stokesley side.
The home side started confidently and played some really good football, keeping the ball well and although Stokesley looked dangerous on the counter -attack creating a few decent chances, it was ‘Boro who took the lead.
Great work from Rich Hegarty led to Sam Leadley finishing well at the back post.
Goldsborough doubled their lead soon after with Leadley scoring his second.
Stokesley applied some pressure just before the break, hitting the crossbar twice and immediately after the restart, ‘Boro had goalkeeper Tobi Fergus to thank for keeping the score at 2-0 with a great save.
Goldsborough continued to play good football but could not put the game out of Stokesley’s reach and were left to rue missed chances when the away team pulled the game back to 2-1.
Goldsborough were then forced to play deep in their own half for the remaining 20 minutes and although they defended superbly, the pressure paid off for Stokesley when a loose ball in the box was converted to make the score 2-2.
Having been 2-0 up, Goldsborough were frustrated not to see the game out but a draw was a fair result after a very entertaining game.
