Blue Review with Darren Williams: Errors take the shine off fine displays

The lads put in a fantastic performance in Wednesday’s match at home to Salford, but once again mistakes cost us dearly.

The same happened on Saturday at Sutton Coldfield when one error saw us lose out 1-0.

When you are at the wrong end of the table these things seem to go against you, whereas at the top end of the league you find you seem to get away with these mistakes.

We played some great football on Wednesday and it was a thrilling game.

We were the the better team and they were embarassed to come away with the three points.

I will not change the way the way that we play just because results are not going our way, the lads are starting to click now and playing some good stuff and I believe the results will come.

The team performance and the displays of individuals is also improving, so we need to persist with the style of football we are producing.

Nobody is more disappointed than me and the players that the results are not going our way, but in time the results will come.

There were lots of positives to take from the Salford game and I think someone will get a good hiding if we maintain that form.

Saturday’s home game with Ilkeston will be a tough match as they are a lively young side, but we just need to take the form from the midweek game into this and we should be okay.

Injuries have not helped our progress this season, and the defence in particular has been hit hard by absences, but the loan signing of Luca Mellor from Bradford City should help strengthen us.

We brought him on as a sub against Salford because we wanted to ease him in, but he looked very strong for his age and seemed to be a good player so he could prove a good signing.

I will be looking to freshen things up as well, so there could be some new faces in the squad shortly.
