THE scintillating early season form of Hinderwell’s England under 17 footballer Beth Mead has already earned her a rave review.
Beth (16) has been banging in the goals for FA Premier League women’s champions Sunderland, netting four times in their opening two games against Watford and Barnet.
Maurice Alderson, chairman of Sunderland Women’s Football Club, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the way Beth has started.
“She has come in and not looked out of her depth and fitted in well with the other players.
“If she continues to improve, I have no doubt the England selectors will be knocking on the door very soon.”
Whitby Community College student Beth signed for Sunderland ladies in July and made an immediate impact, scoring seven times in six games in a pre-season tournament at Keele University.
Beth is now keeping her fingers crossed to be selected for ther England U17s for the first round of the European Championships in Northern Ireland, which start next month (Oct). England will take on the Ulstermen, as well as Finland and Israel.
