Hinderwell hotshot Beth Mead finished the football season a double winner - not only winning the FA Women’s Premier League with Sunderland ladies, but also scoring the most goals.

The 18-year-old’s 30-goal haul lifted the Black Cats to their third title in as many years and they finished this season’s campaign with a 3-1 home win over Leeds United on Sunday, with Beth netting the second goal from the penalty spot.

A delighted Beth told the Whitby Gazette this week: “It’s been an unbelievable season. I feel we deserved the league considering we have had a tough season with injuries.

“I’m so happy to have won the league for the second season and for getting my 30th goal.”
