Hinderwell footballer Beth Mead landed an awards double at Sunderland ladies’ end of season presentation.

Around a hundred players, staff, family, friends and sponsors, gathered at Quinn’s Sports Bar at the Stadium of Light on Saturday night, for the ceremony.

The Black Cats won the FA National Premier League title for the third consecutive year and now look forward to exciting times, as they join the FA Women’s Super League, beginning in March 2014.

Eighteen-year-old Beth jointly won the manager’s player of the season award with skipper Stephanie Bannon, as well as the award for top scorer, having finished on an impressive 31 goals for the campaign.

Individual player awards and League title medals were handed out by sponsors, with Bannon and Helen Alderson thanking committee members and coaches for all the hard work they had put in during the season, especially chairman Maurice Alderson for his contribution towards the Super League bid.
