Eric elected club life president

ERIC Pendleton was unanimously elected a life member at the Lythe and Sandsend Tennis Club AGM.

Mr Pendleton, the club's chairman, was given the honour for his service and dedication to the club over the past 30 years.

At the age of 85, Eric is still a keen player and plays to a high standard, continually confusing the opposition.

The club, situated behind Lythe Village Hall, is currently re-painting its courts for the new season.

The membership secretary, Chris Vasey, said: "While the courts are of a high standard, this will make them the best in the locality."

The club is keen to expand its membership and is looking to introduce members' nights from 6pm on Tuesday and Thursdays.

Anyone wishing to join should contact Christine Vasey on (01947) 821459.

The new life president said: "We are a small friendly club and wish to encourage tennis in the area".
