Cup specialists Lealholm book their slot in last four

CUP specialists Lealholm eased into the semi finals with a 6-2 win at Westover Wasps.

Lealholm led from the second minute courtesy of an own goal after Darren Harland had put the keeper under pressure and they doubled their advantage minutes later when Tom Raw outpaced the defence before scoring.

A deflected clearance put Raw in for his second on 20 minutes and Lealholm went 4-0 up when Duncan Marsden scored following good work from Phil Brown.

Wasps pulled a goal back but Marsden then scored his second, getting on the end of a cross from Mike Thompson.

A second from Wasps gave the scoreline a little more respectability but Lealholm had the last word when substitute Paul Atkinson stabbed the ball home with two minutes remaining.

RICHARD Hegarty got Goldsborough off to a flier at Malton in their cup game when he opened the scoring following a good run from John Foster.

Sadly for Goldsborough, things went downhill from there with Malton levelling before taking the lead from the penalty spot just before the break.

Ten minutes from time, Malton made sure of their semi-final place following a breakaway from the halfway line.

STAITHES were denied all three points against second-placed Hollybush United by the last kick of the game.

Nicky Ward put Hollybush ahead early in the first half and by half-time they had doubled their advantage.

Staithes hit back with a goal from Gary Gilding and they drew level when James Armstrong fired home to make it 2-2.

A second from Gilding put Staithes in the driving seat but they had to settle for a point when the Hollybush scored at the death.

BOOSBECK United started the stronger of the two sides but they fell behind when Dan Winspear showed good control to score for the Fishermen.

By half-time, however, United were seemingly in control with Dane Breckon setting up Mike Fuller and Luke Wallace before Josh Bowmaker put Fuller through for his second.

Fishermen had other ideas however and within 15 minutes of the restart, goals from James and Dean Ward had them back on terms.

But Boosbeck kept their composure, regaining the lead when Callum Raw converted from the penalty spot after Bowmaker had been brought down.

And they made sure with two late goals from Fuller and Breckon.
