Beth earns new England call-up
FOOTBALLER Beth Mead has been called up to play for England under 15s for the second time in six months.
Striker Beth, who lives in Hinderwell, received confirmation from the Football Association to say she has been selected to go to Zwolle in Holland to a training camp and play two international friendlies for England U15s.
The 14-year-old Whitby Community College student, from Middlesbrough's Centre of Excellence for girls, is due to meet up with her team-mates next month and then fly out from Heathrow Airport in London for the five-day training camp.
Last August, Beth travelled out to Germany for a six-day camp and played the German U15s twice.
Unfortunately, the Germans' experience proved too much as they ran out 7-0 and 5-1 winners, but they had been together for three weeks beforehand.
Beth said she thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and is looking forward to travelling out to Holland.
She has had a good first half to the season playing nine competitive games and scoring 22 goals, six of which came in a recent game against Lincoln City.
Beth is a year 10 student at the college, currently studying for her GCSEs.
