Airy Hill tennis stars top table

A YOUNG team of enthusiastic tennis players from Airy Hill School took part in the North Yorkshire Youth Games tennis tournament held at the David Lloyd Tennis Academy in York.

The team comprised Danielle Walker, Jasmine Kent, Matthew Tiplady and Samuel Pell.

They competed against five other teams from the area York, Selby, Richmond, Harrogate and Hambleton.

The tournament was played as a league with all teams playing each other and the top two competing in the final match for the trophy.

The team from Airy Hill were successful, winning all their matches and topping the table.

Their opponents in the final were a team from the Hambleton District.

A close contest was anticipated by all.

The two teams did not disappoint with both winning two matches.

The winner was decided on points scored.

To the delight of the Airy Hill pupils and parents, they came out on top winning by a close margin of 29 points to 26.

An excellent day was had by all the team who celebrated their success following the presentation of the trophy.
