A BIG crowd witnessed a keenly contested local derby on Monday night to decide the outcome of the Esk Valley Evening League title.
Mulgrave got off to a good start before dangerman Stuart Marsay fell to a Chris Headlam slower ball.
Rich Hegarty fought hard, making 31 before Tim Hodgson bowled him.
After this no-one really got going as Mulgrave's innings closed on 108/5.
The pick of Ugthorpe's bowlers were Headlam and Hodgson.
Ugthorpe started their innings brightly before opener Paul Buck ran himself out for 32 after an opening stand of 70 with the again excellent Gihan Perera, who finally fell for a well-made 53.
After this, two quick wickets from Stu Marsay wasn't enough to stop Ugthorpe winning their first ever trophy, with club stalwart Garry Summerson hitting the winning boundary for a well-deserved victory.
Thanks to umpires Allan Knaggs and Malcolm Lonsdale and Duncan Steele for an excellent wicket, also thanks to supporters and match sponsor Honeyz Bath Products Limited of Church Street.
