MORE than 70 year three and year four pupils took part in a gymnastics festival at Eskdale School.
Pupils from St Hedda's in Egton Bridge, Egton, Fylingdales, Ruswarp and Lythe schools competed against each other, followed by teams from East Whitby, Stakesby Airy Hill and West Cliff.
Young leaders from Eskdale School's gym club developed their own leadership skills by coaching and judging the youngsters who completed a range of gymnastic disciplines.
All of the gymnasts performed on both floor and vault and demonstrated body management skills.
Ruswarp School were the overall team winners in the first competition, with Egton in second place and Fylingdales third.
Airy Hill's team took the second trophy, with East Whitby team 1 and West Cliff team 1 following in second and third place with only 0.1 marks separating them.
Organiser Caroline Watson, of the Ryedale and Whitby School Sports Partnership, said: "There was a good standard of gymnastics being performed on both afternoons, all of the scores were very close.
"I would like to say well done to all of the children who took part and also thank everyone who has helped to make both events a great success."
