IAN Carr came up with the goods on his home ground as Ugthorpe Quoits Club hosted its individual handicap competition on Saturday.
The playing conditions were ideal for the 28 competitors who took part.
The handicap format led to some closely contested matches, particularly in the early rounds.
The semi-finals saw an all-Ugthorpe clash with Ian Carr (-3) beating John Tindall (+5) 21-7.
The other semi-final was an all-Fylingthorpe affair between Paul Dixon and Mike Mendelsohn, both playing off (-3). A close game was expected but Mendelsohn eased to a comfortable 21-4 win.
The final lived up to expectations with both players producing some excellent quoits but it was Carr, on his home ground, who came away with a 21-12 victory to claim his first title of the season.
This Sunday, the coveted Wilkinson Sword Trophy for the North of England Title will be held at the CB Inn, Arkengarthdale in Upper Swaledale.
Current holder Ian Carr will be hoping to defend his title, with his main competition again coming from local players Mike and Paul Mendelsohn and Paul Dixon. Around 20 players from the area will be taking part.
