WHITBY Town will be hoping for eighth time lucky when they visit Matlock's Geoquip Stadium tomorrow.
Whitby have never once tasted victory at Causeway Lane in more than a decade of trying.
The Blues suffered a 2-1 defeat this time last year after Paul Riley scored a controversial winner that appeared not to cross the line.
The Gladiators enjoyed a 5-1 league victory thanks to Rotherham United-bound Tom Cahill's hat-trick in 2007, and knocked the Blues out of the League Challenge Cup at the same venue after a 5-4 extra-time win.
It wasn't the first time Matlock have halted Town's progress in that competition, with another extra-time win, this time at the Turnbull Ground, achieved in the second leg of the 2004/05 final.
Both teams have endured a difficult opening to the season, with Whitby yet to find the net after losing 2-0 to Buxton 1-0 and Frickley.
Matlock were denied all three points at FC United of Manchester on Saturday and then suffered a 4-0 drubbing at home to Bradford Park Avenue on Tuesday night. If Whitby are successful, it will be their first win in Derbyshire since March 1998.
Kick-off tomorrow is 3pm.
A bus leaves the club house at 9.30am.
The Blues entertain Kendal Town on Monday, 3pm kick-off and then travel to FC United of Manchester a week tomorrow – book now as the bus is likely to be over-subscribed.
