A shopping trip around Whitby was in order for actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, who is in the district to film the new Dad’s Army film.
Dressed all in black and wearing a black hat, she visited Venus Trading in Sandgate, the Owl & the Pussycat in Church Street, and Home Works in Bridge Street.
Her shopping spree included an antique blouse and a reduced price canvas print of Audrey Hepburn.
The actress declined to make a comment or be photographed directly and was accompanied by two minders.
She left in a large four by four vehicle with blacked-out windows, which had been parked in Bridge Street.
Her appearance in Whitby follows a visit last year by Bill Nighy who is also part of the Dad’s Army cast, and the arrival of Michael Gambon in Scarborough on Wednesday this week. Gambon, who performed in Othello at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the early 1990s, is also in the film.
Filming took place this week in Bridlington but Whitby villages are also said to be due for some scenes. The film crew will be returning to Bridlington in a fortnight, be in Cloughton early next month.
