A Stroll With Stuart, which was a walk around Whitby, written by Stuart as a tribute to his Mam (Whitby Gazette 3 January) was eye catching and entertaining - and it was nice to see a photo of the Well House.
However, I can assure Stuart that the Well House is loved and cared for by members of Whitby Civic Society and they have it open to the public during the summer holidays, bank holidays and for the annual Heritage Weekend in September.
It is well worth a visit.
I believe Scarborough Borough Council are in the throws of passing its maintenance to the Whitby Town Council.
Like all buildings, the Well House needs continued love and care and this is costly.
At the moment it blends into its surroundings.
If it became a feature how soon would it become the target for vandalism? I can also assure your readers that the Well House is beautiful inside and it has a proud history.

We enjoy having visitors at the well.
