Just back from seeing the regular comedy double bill at the coliseum.
A really good night out, spoilt only by the fact that there were no more than 25 people in the audience in a venue that can comfortably hold 100.
Where were the townsfolk of Whitby? We met people from Stockton, even Eastbourne. We’re not exactly local ourselves.
Events like this are so much better for all involved, the organisers, acts and audience, if there is a full house.
So, next Saturday, when I go to see the excellent Chris Ramsey, I hope to find a full house with the organisers busily setting out extra seating for those queuing outside the Coliseum and who didn’t have the foresight to save themselves two quid by booking in advance.
It’s another case of ‘use it or lose it’. This would be a shame as it’s really rather good.
Come on people of Whitby. You don’t know what you’re missing.
