The Dormanstown and Redcar branch of the Merchant Navy Association has a membership of about 50 which includes ex-seafarers and around 12 associate members.
We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at the RBL Club, Ennis Squre, Dormanstown near Redcar.
This is to bring together retired and serving seafarers for social evenings and trips out, a band of brothers, not forgetting our lady members who are a very important part of our branch.
We attend all of the local remembrance parades with the RBL and of course our own Merchant Navy Day in September.
We meeting up in Whitby about four times a year to meet with old friends and shipmates and a good time is had by all.
Our next trip to Whitby is on Saturday 17 March.
If you are interested in joining this ‘band of brothers’ then please contact me, Tony Whatmore, on (01642) 484787.
