There was a letter in the Independent last week that stated that two mine shafts to the mine would make 700,000 tons of spoil and ruin the North Yorks Moors.
I think this was an exaggeration.
I worked out each shaft would produce 35,000 tons of spoil or 70,000 tons in total for two shafts, 20ft in diam and 1,000 yds deep.
It is still a large amount of spoil but how else can you access the Potash without sinking two mine shafts?
