Regarding the article on the possible pedestrianisation of the swing bridge, two points occur to me.
If visitors didn’t wannder about in the middle of the road like brainless zombies there would be no danger of their being run over.
Who is going to pay the extra delivery charges caused by transhipping goods? I certainly won’t and neither will my suppliers and surely army of small vans will cause more congestion than a small number of large vehicles.
Although not related to the bridge, a lot of delivery vehicle congestion is caused by motorists treating baxtergate as a free car park and impeding the free flow of commercial vehicles.
