It came to me as quite a shock to find work was in short supply years ago, so I had to do what local men did and made the 30 miles round trip to Teesside ICI and Dormans Steel Works.
Then I had a PSV Licence so I drove the coach and worked on site 12 hour shifts. At this time hundreds of men left Station Square at 6am Teesside bound for 30 plus years.
So I for one am in favour of the new mine and the work it could bring to men and women like Boulby Mine did for apprentices and 40 years on still doing it.
So let’s look to the new mine and the work and cash it will bring into our town, the business will help.
