Further history of Conservative Club

The history of the Conservative Club in Friday’s Whitby Gazette omits a very significant period in the club’s history - the years when it occupied premises in Silver Street, which are now part of Botham’s Bakery.

It was during this period that the use of one-armed bandits was legalised and it was the profits from this course which enabled the club to buy Flowergate Cross.
