On June 29 I parked in the Co-op car park intending to stay half an hour to get items in the Co-op.
After half an hour I decided to stop longer for the Armed Forces Day. So I approached the parking machine which had a female attendant explaining you had to put your car number in and pay the £2 for two hours parking, which I duly did.
She explained there was no need to display the ticket in the car.
I returned to the car and left - total time in the car park was less than two hours.
Seven days later I received a summons for overstaying the three quarter parking.
I wrote and explained I had bought a ticket and told them to check their machines and records.
Their reply was no record, so send my ticket. Who keeps parking tickets?
So it seems if you’re staying longer than intended you must leave the car park and come back in then get a ticket and keep for formality - then there’s no guarantee.
I haven’t and won’t pay the fine.
