Some months ago I spoke to the Whitby Gazette to ask if we might have some information about Bolton (Mr?) who was a provider of housing for fishermen’s widows at Bolton Buildings in McLachlin’s Yard.
This benefaction is now sold and is being turned into flats - presumably to be let or sold.
Can we please have some information about this generous man?
I have already given the name of the charity secretary to your staff at Wisbeck who presumably would know Bolton’s history or at least where to get hold of it - perhaps the museum can help?
I look forward to hearing more of this benefactor of Whitby before his name is forgotten forever.
