More adult helpers and volunteers are needed to enable Whitby’s Eskmouth Scouts to continue to blossom.

Janine Pemberton, Group Scout Leader, said: “Although we don’t have a waiting list at Whitby, we need more adult leaders or else scouting will not be able to thrive in the area.

“Get in contact for a chat.

“Perhaps you may not want to become a leader, but there are other ways of supporting the organisation.”

Nationally, more than 50,000 young people are being forced to wait to join the Scouts – whose chief is Bear Grylls – due to a lack of volunteers.

The Eskmouth Scout Group is to celebrate its 50th birthday on Friday December 15 and is looking for 50 ex-cubs or ex-scouts that have either been in a pack/troop in this area, or live in the area and were once a cub or scout.

Janine added: “We are asking for people to hand-raise and contact me either on 07880 498283 or email j9pemberton@gmail.com – they will then be invited to a party where we will be re-uniting at least 50 scouts present and past.”
