A man in his 70s was airlifted to hospital following an accident at allotments near Stakesby Vale this afternoon (Friday April 19).

The man was reported to have been injured while using gardening equipment, but a spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service could only confirm that he had suffered a serious leg injury.

The incident occurred just before 3pm and the man was taken to James Cook University Hospital by the Great North Air Ambulance.
