A Whitby nursery is celebrating after being rated as good in all areas in its latest Ofsted inspection.

Louise and Charlotte Knight, who own The Wooden Horse chain, said they were delighted with the report, which was carried out at their site at East Whitby School.

“We are extremely proud of our nursery and the report,” said Louise and Charlotte, who are both qualified teachers.

Ofsted inspectors praised the quality of teaching as being consistently strong.

“Staff demonstrate outstanding teaching skills and they support children’s ongoing learning and development extremely well.

“Staff observe children at play and assess their development effectively.

“This contributes to the good progress children make.”

Inspectors also heaped praise on the managers of the nursery, saying that they are “remarkably committed” to evaluating and developing all areas of the provision.

“This contributes to their great capacity to continue building upon the already strong standards of care and learning.

“Children form trusting bonds with attentive staff who offer them plenty of praise and encouragement,” it added.

The Wooden Horse nursery offers places from birth to five years.

It is open all year round 8am-6pm. It offers private and funded sessions.
