Ten-year-old Whitby schoolboy Beau Gibson has raised money to help 40 Ugandan children with no electric or running water.

He decided he wanted to help, so with some assistance from his mum Claire Gibson, they baked cakes to be sold at East Whitby School at break time.

They were so successful, he made another batch, raising a total of £130 which included donations from friends as well as £30 of Beau’s own birthday money. Claire said: “Without me knowing, he designed a poster that said he was going to sell cakes and loom bands at his school at break time. I am so very proud of Beau, it was all his own ideas and he made a big success of it.”

If anyone else would like to donate money, contact the Ugandan Orphange Fund on Go Fund Me online. This can be found via the Facebook page of William Kafuuma, founder of the orphanage.
