A WHITBY cruise, similar to the one held recently in memory of Carl Roe, is being held on Saturday 15 September.
At the event, which starts at 7.30pm, around 300 petrolheads are expected to pull up at Marina Back Car Park on Langbourne Road, to show off their prize possessions.
Organiser Nathan Stewart, said the event is for anybody with a genuine passion for cars.
He added: “There has been times when people think they won’t fit in. But at the end of the day, as long as you appreciate cars, anybody is welcome.”
Permission has been gained from Whitby Police and Scarborough Borough Council to host the event, and Mr Stewart added that ‘boy racers’ are not welcome.
“The boy racers who want to just mess around are not invited,” he said. “We’re trying to promote a safe environment for people to enjoy cars.”
Mr Stewart said that many of the people who attend are in fact older, occasionally bringing their families along to make it a family event.
He said: “We have a good base of people aged 35-55 who do attend. They actually have the higher-powered cars because they can afford the insurance.”
