Village hall makeover

MAJOR improvement work is to begin in Hawsker Village Hall as part of a £32,000 scheme.

It will start on Monday and will include refurbishment of the toilets, kitchen, baby changing, a new storage area and a new roof in the area at the front of the hall.

The building work is being funded thanks to a grant of £15,000 from the LEADER fund while the parish hall will fund the rest.

The parish council was unable to secure funding for a new village hall as it had been quoted £285,000 and could not get lottery funding.

It is hoped the whole of the village hall’s roof can be re-done in the future.
