Whitby’s park and ride was officially opened last Friday following its first summer of operation which has seen it transport over 90,000 passengers.
The ceremony was performed by Whitby and Scarborough MP Robert Goodwill and local ward Cllr Joe Plant.
The scheme was launched in April and is based on the outskirts of the town, shuttling visitors back and forth with several daily trips.
It is part of North Yorkshire County Council’s bid to reduce ever increasing problems with congestion and lack of parking in Whitby during the busy summer months.
Cllr Plant said the scheme had been much anticipated and would help residents go about their daily business.
