A VOLUNTEER service which provides door-to-door transport for the elderly and disabled is appealing for someone to become a driver for their Ring and Ride service.

Good Neighbours Community Transport has serving Whitby and the surrounding district since 1996 and helps to provide support and independence to members.

Volunteer Martin Spence said: “If you would like to do a very satisfying and worthwhile job, come and drive our multi-purpose vehicle. Currently I am driving it three days a week and we are looking for drivers for Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is very rewarding, transporting the elderly and disabled around the district and would suit somebody who is currently out of work.”

The seven-seater MPV is no larger than a family car and the driver must have held a clean driving licence for more than two years, be aged between 25 and 70 years and be willing to undertake a CRB check.

For more information contact Mr Lund, the Good Neighbours transport manager on (01947) 606440 or call into the office at Church House, Flowergate.

Alternatively, anyone wishing to use the service can call the booking line on (01947) 602982.
